40% Time Savings for Bank Through Dynamics 365 Automation
Roq creates additional savings for UK bank through Azure APIs and automated testing.
Roq has recently created further savings on their initial automated test suite, building tools to integrate with Azure DevOps, identifying where further savings could be generated, resulting in up to 40% time savings per test.
The Client
Roq’s client is a UK-based private bank which offers a contemporary bespoke service to its customers.
The Challenge
The clients CRM systems were previously tested manually, meaning some bugs slipped through the cracks and timescales were lengthy and laborious. During Roq’s pre-existing engagement with the client, the team developed automated regression testing packs which offered a world of benefits including increased confidence, time savings and the freedom for manual resource to focus on other tasks. As part of Roq’s engagement the team strive for continuous improvement, one of Roq’s Quality Engineering Principles, and as such, found opportunities to create further savings in the CRM space. Roq’s client is always looking for ways to drive efficiencies, combined with their trust and long-standing relationship with Roq, this meant that they were happy for Roq to progress.
The Solution
The Roq team built tools that integrate with Azure DevOps through an API to give timings on current test activity, including the regression packs previously implemented by Roq. Precise reports were developed to provide actional insights to the team to identify areas for optimisation. These reports run continuously in the background with very little requirement for regular upkeep from the team. From these reports, Roq can identify spikes in productivity and further improvement ideas can be generated from the data. Roq then actioned the automation improvements in Dynamics 365 that had been identified using their test automation expertise and ‘automation-first’ approach to Quality to automate.
The Outcome
Roq generated additional time savings of around 30-40% per test, dependant on test scenario, on top of the savings created by the automated testing carried out in the initial engagement. Many of these tests are actioned as much as three or four times a week, which equates to significant time savings for the client. Roq also freed up additional manual test resource and computation time as a result of these activities which they ran alongside their regular duties. A clear value-add for the client.
Roq delivered a lunch and learn session for the client, presenting back the work completed and the savings that had been made. During this session, the client’s Head of Test specifically called out how delighted and impressed they were by Roq’s initiative and the savings they have benefitted from as a result.
